When In A Corner, Fight!

What do you do when you are in a corner?  That may be the place to start.  Those times when you are pressed, full of doubt, uncertain of success or just plain confused.  What do you do when you can't find the solution, when the task seems too difficult and hope is fading fast? If you haven't faced this corner then you may not be where you need to be. The potential for growth and creativity are at its peak in the corner.  Fight or Flight takes over, the adrenaline starts pumping, life and death is on the line.  The corner can bring out the best or the worst in us.  So what do you do?  I start checking emails far too often thinking God may just have an email address and be sending me some much needed information.  What if the email goes to spam...I better check that too.

Some people find a hobby, an excuse, someone to blame, another job, a way out, a divorce, a sure thing.  None of the work and we all know we just did whatever to get out of being in the corner, but we did not take on what put us in the corner in the first place.

There is only one way out of the corner...a step at a time, swinging randomly and wildly. Brainstorm, go for a walk, pray, make a list of what might work, call a mentor, read a book, find someone who fought their way out of the same corner, have a healthy snack, turn off the phone/text/email - the answer is not going to magically arrive in an inbox.  The only way out of the corner is to fight your way out.  It is hard, painful and takes guts - the old fashioned kind.  But I tell you this...even if you don't beat what put you in the corner, the very fact that you took a swing at it means you won.  Fight on.

  1. I was hearing "eye of the tiger" playing in the background while reading this! Thanks for the hope that by just realizing that your in a "corner" and trying to fight your way, is awesome progress. I'm focusing on the fighting today and not the failures that I so often face while fighting the good fight.

  2. I was thinking of 'I get knocked down, but I get up again' whatever that song is when I wrote it. Glad you enjoyed and praying for you often!
