10 Things to do Immediately to Become a Better Preacher

1.  Pray through your sermon before you deliver it.
2.  Listen to a preacher outside your tradition.
3.  Read a preaching book by Calvin Miller (even if it is a re-read).
4.  Rehearse your sermon prior to delivering it 2 times.
5.  Start working a preaching system (planning ahead of time).
6.  Summarize your sermon to your spouse, and listen to their reaction.
7.  Journal your thoughts or feelings about your sermon prior to delivering.
8.  Imagine how two different people in your congregation will hear the sermon.
9.  Pray with your spouse on Saturday night that God will use your sermon to change lives.
10.  Realize that it does not need to be a home run...singles will do.
